Paula Hawkins was born and brought up in Harare, Zimbabwe. She moved to London at the age of seventeen and, apart from brief stints in Paris, Oxford and Brussels, has lived there ever since. She worked in financial journalism for fifteen years before turning her hand to fiction, writing four women’s fiction novels under a pseudonym.

Paula is the author of two thrillers. The Girl on the Train, which was published in January 2015, has sold 20 million copies worldwide and was made into a motion picture starring Emily Blunt in 2016. Into the Water, which was published in May 2017, has been translated into more than 40 languages and the film rights have been purchased by Dreamworks.
